Stress incontinence is the involuntary leakage of urine during activities that increase abdominal pressure, such as coughing, sneezing, laughing, or exercising. It's often caused by weakened or damaged pelvic floor muscles.
This programme is designed for men and women experiencing mild to moderate stress incontinence. It's suitable for various ages and fitness levels, from postpartum mothers to stressed out men because this issue occurs through prolonged psychological stress and childbirth. Woman experience both so this issue is more prevalent for woman but don't be mistaken - everyone with a pelvic floor can get this issue. However, if you have severe symptoms or other health concerns, we recommend consulting with your general practitioner as you may need more invasive management techniques.
While Kegel exercises are a part of our programme, we offer a more comprehensive approach. We focus on proper technique, progressive overload, and integration with breathing and overall movement patterns. Our programme also educates you on pelvic floor anatomy and function, helping you understand the 'why' behind each exercise.
Many participants report improvements within 4 weeks of consistent practice. If you choose to participate in other forms of exercise during this programme expect slower results if any at all. Its really important to be consistent and not push other exercises during your programme.
The programme is designed to fit into busy lifestyles. We recommend dedicating 10-15 minutes per day for exercises, plus additional time for educational content. Many exercises can be integrated into your daily routine to ensure your subconscious movement patterns stick with the felt awareness of optimal pelvic floor control.
The only bit of equipment you need is something to sit on which you can use to perform the 'pelvic floor awareness' exercise. This is best with a foam roller around 6cm wide. You can buy one or you can use a rolling pin with a towel over it or anything in fact that will have the same effect.
While addressing incontinence is a primary goal, the benefits extend beyond this. Participants often report improved core strength, better posture, enhanced sexual function, and increased overall body awareness.
It is safe to do this course in your 1st and 2nd trimester and you are advised to seek advice from your GP or gynaecologist when entering the 3rd trimester. Before childbirth it is a great idea to increase your level of awareness of your body. When you give birth you will want to have a pelvic floor which can relax and allow the passing of the baby naturally. If your pelvic floor is already stiff and tight then it will be more traumatic. The other serious benefit of this programme is the fact that you will have a greater level of control of your diaphragm which is critical for the cardio-vascular endurance needed during the process of labour.
Absolutely. We take your privacy very seriously. All your personal and medical information is kept strictly confidential and is never shared with third parties.
We offer support for any questions you may have. We will do our best to answer any questions but with so many people benefitting from the course it may take some time. We also have a community forum where you can connect with other participants
